MISSION
The Homeless Resource Network partners with the community to provide solutions to homelessness.

The Homeless Resource Network, formerly known as Metropolitan Columbus Task Force for the Homeless, Inc.. has, since 1987, served the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) of Columbus, Georgia and Russell County, Alabama, in the coordination of services and information for the homeless population.  The Network is a non profit 501(c)3  homeless coalition of service providers, concerned citizens and homeless people.  In 1995, with assistance from the City of  Columbus and the Georgia Coalition to End Homelessness, the Network for the first time established an office and  hired staff.

The Network is a networking coalition with membership that both supports and guides the coalition. The Network's main objective is to provide leadership in coordinating the community response to homelessness through: advocacy, education and the coordination of services and people.

The Network is an ongoing project assisting in the coordination of services, direct services to homeless individuals and families, as well as capacity building and technical assistance.  Through monthly meetings, homeless service organizations meet to address the problem of homelessness.  In addition, the Network serves as a clearinghouse and a connection for homeless services.

For eleven years the Network has produced the local Continuum of Care document through a community process for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.  The Continuum of Care is a status report on the components of homeless services including:  homeless prevention, outreach and intake, emergency shelter, supportive services, transitional shelter, permanent supportive housing and permanent affordable housing. The Continuum, a community process, assesses the services available to homeless families and individuals - looking for duplication in services and gaps in services.  The Continuum of Care provides an avenue for the community as a whole to address the needs of homeless families and individuals and apply for funding to meet these needs.   Through this process the Network has generated approximately 3.6 million dollars for this community.

In addition to the many other services the Network performs it also administers the Emergency Shelter Grant funds for the City of Columbus and is currently administering the State Assembly funds for the Georgia Coalition to End Homelessness.
